TWIN DISC TECHNODRIVE- INDUSTRIAL GEARBOXES

Technodrive is a factory established in 1973 in S.M. Decima (Bologna, Italy), specializing in the manufacture of marine and industrial gearboxes as well as hydraulic pump drives. In 1999, the company became part of the American firm Twin Disc. The factory is known for its high-quality and durable products.
Twin Disc Technodrive RM gearboxes are specifically designed for connection to diesel engines, enabling the operation of auxiliary devices (such as water pumps, compressors, blowers, etc.) at speeds different from the diesel engine’s RPM.
-
Structurally, RM gearboxes consist of:
- cast iron (aluminum alloy in RM 20)
- helical gears that are enclosed, hardened, and ground (milled in RM 150)
- shafts made from high-quality steel and hardened
- tapered roller bearing on the output shaft
- input shaft supported by a single bearing inside the housing, thus requiring a pilot bearing installed in the flywheel for tight coupling with the diesel engine
-
The RM series includes 6 models, each of which can be equipped with either:
- output rotation direction matching the input rotation (RM ... S), or
- output rotation direction opposite to the input rotation (RM ... D).
- in RM ... D units with reverse rotation, the primary gear on the input shaft transmits power directly to the secondary gear, which drives the output shaft.
- in RM ... S units with the same rotation direction, there is an idler gear between the primary and secondary gears
-
RM gearboxes can be equipped for tight coupling with diesel engines in the following ways:
- overload clutch (BD) with SAE housing
- SAE housing with rigid or flexible coupling (GR, GE)
A free-standing version is available as the BDS model.
